Walk and talk therapy is an alternative to traditional counselling in a room or online. Whilst I aim to foster a relaxed feel in all my sessions, walking side by side (and the lack of eye contact that comes with that) along with the regulating effects of movement and nature can help you to access and process thoughts and emotions that may feel stuck.

I have limited slots available for walk and talk therapy at select locations in North Oxfordshire. These have been risk assessed and have suitable surfaces for easy walking in all weathers, areas of shade and benches for stopping, and ample parking (charges may apply). We will discuss the best option for you (subject to availability) before starting. Locations often have dogs running free so if you have a phobia/allergy please let me know and we may be able to organise an alternative location.

Walk and talk therapy sessions take place at select locations in North Oxfordshire. We will meet at the session start time and an agreed location.
We will talk as we walk side by side (which some people prefer as it reduces eye contact) and follow a route around the park or countryside location. As with online therapy you are in charge of what you choose to bring and at what pace we go at. I will offer a supportive, empathetic ear and can facilitate deeper exploration through gentle questioning.
Movement and being in nature are naturally regulating for our nervous systems and can help us to feel more relaxed and able to process things.

Our pets are great emotional support and help us to feel more comfortable. If you feel it would benefit you you are welcome to bring your dog to your walk and talk therapy session, if you feel this won’t distract you or prevent you from being able to make the most of your session. Please note you are responsible for them at all times.
-
Ideally you would attend your session alone, so that you feel able to express the full range of emotions you need to. However, I understand that not being able to get childcare can be a barrier to therapy for new mums so your baby/babies is/are welcome to attend sessions. We will discuss suitability in regards to their language comprehension and location prior to starting.

Sessions can be on a weekly or fortnightly basis - this slot is saved for you for as long as you wish to remain in therapy.
I work open-ended which means you can stay in therapy for as long as you need (I have clients that I’ve worked with from 6 sessions to several years) and you can also end whenever you like.
I usually recommend having a minimum of 6 sessions to give yourself a chance to see if therapy is starting to help you.

If there is extreme weather (storms, snow, heatwave etc.) we will arrange to either have that session online or to postpone this (subject to cancellation period).
